Project Overview

Perched on a hilltop overlooking the rural town of Clayton, Georgia, Mountain Lakes Medical Center provides 360-degree views of the surrounding foothills. The central design theme was to connect patients, staff and visitors to the nature that surrounds them.

Visitors to this 24-hour critical access hospital are welcomed to an outdoor boardwalk, overlooking the town of Clayton, and serving as the main gathering space for the Hospital.

Clinical services include emergency services and observation beds, inpatient guest rooms, surgery, endoscopy, outpatient infusion, and rehabilitation. The facility is also equipped to serve mobile imaging services.

Patient guest rooms are spacious with wood grain headwalls that continue across the ceiling and camouflage medical equipment. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a panoramic view for all inpatients. Administrative and support functions are located on the lower Club-level and are invisible to guests, creating a seamless patient-centered experience.

Community hospitals provide essential primary and secondary care that is accessible to patients and their families and responsive to the cultural base of their communities.

Mountain Lake Medical Center provides easy access to quality healthcare and provides services and amenities for families and staff – similar to a small village.
